Before you buy or sell

Know how Velvet Directory works.

This guide explains direct Velvet Stripe Checkout, payment-free private offers, pickup versus delivery, and external eBay auctions so you can choose the right path with confidence.

Next: Read the buying and selling steps before proceeding.

Marketplace information

Simple paths to buy well.

Velvet Directory keeps the purchase path obvious. Before you proceed, check each item’s condition, location and whether it is pickup / collection only or can be delivered.

Working policy notice. This page is a plain-English working draft and needs Victorian legal review before it becomes binding website terms.

Direct Velvet checkout

Buy and pay on Velvet Directory.

For an eligible fixed-price direct-sale item, you choose Velvet Stripe Checkout to complete payment. The listing tells you whether to collect in person or receive delivery. Keep your confirmation and item description for your records.

Postage labels

Know the full path first.

A listing says whether it is pickup / collection only, has fixed buyer-paid postage included at checkout, needs a size-and-weight postage quote, or has eligible standard postage covered by Velvet Directory. For a quote-first item, Velvet Directory confirms the total before Velvet Stripe Checkout opens; do not send a street address in your initial request.

External eBay auction

Bid and pay on eBay.

A Featured eBay Auction is external and opens eBay in a new tab. Velvet Directory does not accept bids, auction payments or Stripe Checkout for it. Read the current eBay listing and eBay’s own terms before bidding.

Accurate listings

Sellers should identify second-hand items, use clear photos, describe condition plainly, and disclose known damage, repairs, defects, recalls or safety issues.

Product safety

Report an unsafe, recalled, incomplete or misleading listing. A listing may be removed while it is reviewed.

Privacy and collection

Do not publicly list a private collection address, phone number or payment details. Share only what is needed for an appropriate transaction, and arrange collection details privately.
