This is a plain-language guide to the draft rules for using Velvet Directory. It needs qualified Victorian and Australian legal review before it becomes final terms.
In everyday terms: use the service honestly, keep account details secure and respect other people. By using Velvet Directory, creating an account, submitting a listing, making an offer, joining The Velvet Treasury, buying an item or requesting styling, you agree to the relevant site rules. Do not impersonate another person, make false listings, misuse private information or interfere with site security.
Marketplace listings must be genuine vintage, antique, historical or clearly described original-style reproduction items. Sellers must use truthful photos, describe condition plainly, disclose known damage, repairs, missing parts, safety limitations, recalls or bans, and identify whether they are operating as a business where relevant. Velvet Directory may remove a listing that appears unsafe, inaccurate, misleading, unlawful or inconsistent with the site rules.
Velvet Directory does not guarantee an independent authentication, valuation or inspection of every member listing. Current Australian guidance for second-hand marketplaces emphasises accurate listing information, safety disclosures and clear ways to report concerns. Read the guidance
A listing marked Buy and pay on Velvet Directory is a fixed-price direct purchase path using Stripe Checkout. The listing must state its price and collection or delivery information before checkout. A Make an Offer message is private, is not a payment or reservation, and does not create a contract until the owner accepts it and a separate purchase step is made available. Velvet Directory must not charge a buyer merely because they submit an offer.
Featured eBay Auctions are external, genuine timed eBay auctions only. Bidding, auction prices, delivery, payment, buyer protections and disputes are handled on eBay. Velvet Directory does not run in-site bidding, auction checkout or live auctions.
Velvet Directory offers on-location décor styling and quote-first hire from Airport West. A request is not accepted until the owner reviews the location, access, timing, travel and final quote. The $200 deposit is requested only after that approval. Clients provide the venue or location. Velvet Directory does not provide food, beverages, catering, food collection, food placement or food storage. Unwired decorative hire pieces and candle-compatible items remain subject to owner approval and venue rules.
The final lawyer-reviewed booking terms will set the rescheduling, cancellation, damage, weather, access and deposit rules before launch.
Bullying, harassment, threats, discrimination, stalking, scams, fraudulent listings, doxxing, coercion and image-based abuse are not permitted. Do not publish private addresses, phone numbers, card information or other personal information. For a safety concern, use the Safety & Respect page or email enquires@velvetdirectory.com.au with the relevant reference and factual details. Velvet Directory may keep the report and relevant records while it is reviewed. Do not email passwords, card details or unnecessary sensitive information.
